Currently the plans indicate the build of a 6 lane pool, however GASC are strongly campaigning for the build of an 8 lane pool.
Swimmers were ready and primed for our home meet, the meet was very well attended with a full complement of swimmers from around the region.
With the start of the new year the first competitive meet was the SAS Junior meet at Westhill over the weekend of 14th and 15th January.
It was cold outside but the action in the pool was red hot for the North District Age group meet over the weekend of 26 November with no less than 4 new club records.
There was a massive convoy of cars which headed up to Buckie on 12th Nov, a total of 27 swimmers from the club were attending and for some it was their first meeting.
It was seven Garioch swimmers who made their way up to Inveress for the Open Championships, the standard of the meet was exceptionally high and Garioch swimmers were showing strong early season form.
The annual Garioch 200 meet took place over 15 and 16 October in Inverurie supported by Viking Life Saving equipment, the event’s principle sponsor. Garioch ASC would like to thank Andrew Cook and his team for their continued support of the event.
For most this was the first meeting of the season and a great opportunity to see how all the pre season training has been going. The event concentrates on the long distance events, so there are just 4 events, the 1500m, 800m, 400m and 400m IM.
It was a very excited squad of 17 swimmers who made their way over to Westhill for the first meeting of a new season and for some it was their first ever meeting. The competition in the pool was fierce with our Garioch Swimmers doing us proud.
Max Hitchcox has qualified for the Scottish Swimming National Senior Bronze Squad. This is a great achievement for Max and gives our younger swimmers something to aspire to. Well done Max and keep training hard.
