On October the 14th and 20th GASC’s David Smith took part in 2 Aquathlons, a competition involving swimming followed immediately by running.
On a cold, windy and wet Saturday David Smith travelled north to Nairn to take part in his last triathlon of the season. A 750m swim, 23k cycle and a 5k run lay ahead in some very windy and wet conditions. From an entry of 90 David was in the final heat of triathletes from as far north as Shetland and south as Edinburgh. First out of the water David went into the cycle with a good lead but was followed by some very strong cyclists. Lying 7th after a good cycle David set of on the run along the beach front against a strong head wind doubling back then to finish strongly in 4th place. David was first junior in the event, fourth overall but especially pleased to be fastest in the swim and in the run. So the moral of the tale is "get on yer bike David".
