Congratulations to Joseph and Jessica for being selected for the 2013 Scottish Swimming stroke camps this is a great achievement and opportunity for them.
Buckie swimming pool was the latest venue for Garioch’s 12-15 year old swimmers, with two days of age group competition culminating in overall third place behind a strong Elgin squad. 5 golds were achieved, 11 silvers and 8 bronze medals, with a host of excellent times being recorded in what was an exhausting but thoroughly enjoyable week-end for all.
Some of Garioch’s youngest swimmers were in action at Bridge of Don and there is clearly much to be optimistic about in terms of future talent if these swimmers can continue to work hard and make the sort of progress shown throughout a great day’s swimming.
David Smith and his recently retired sister Sarah traveled to and took part in the the Scottish Gas National Masters SC Swimming Championships at Scotstoun pool in Glasgow. A heavy weekend of swimming was ahead of them with 13 swims for David and 11 for Sarah which was a big ask with her having stopped squad training just over a month before. However the upbeat atmosphere and enthusiasm of the participants swept them both up and they rose to the occasion claiming 19 medals between them and even a pb in the 50 fly for Sarah. Who'd have thought?!
April saw a small team of 12 Garioch Amateur Swimming Club swimmers returning to the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh to compete in the 2013 British Gas Scottish National Age Groups Championship. Five days of intense racing brought home 12 medals, 9 Club records, personal bests for every swimmer, 26 appearances in the finals and several ASA qualifying times.
