Garioch ASC's David Smith took part in the Inverurie Sprint Triathlon an event which usually involves a 750m swim, followed by a 26K cycle and then by a 5K run. However due to the torrential rain overnight it was judged unsafe for the cycle part of the event to go ahead with portions of the course flooded. So this year it was the Inverurie Aquathlon, the swim followed immediately by the run.
Garioch ASC’s team of 12 swimmers performed incredibly well to take 8th place overall in the Scottish Gas National Open, enjoying four days of tough but enjoyable swimming in the newly refurbished Tollcross International Swim Centre in Glasgow. Led by Hannah Miley who took her medal tally to an amazing 6 golds, there were some great individual performances across the full range of events.
On a sunny and windy Saturday, 3 Garioch ASC swimmers travelled to Inverness to take part in the Inverness Aquathlon. This was an event run by Inverness Triathlon Club and involved a swim followed immediately by a run.
I have now got a new lucky number 13 it is! I can only but thank the swimmers for a fantastic effort at some of theirs first experience at long course. My "older" swimmers owned it, they are such a credit to the garioch family, I have chosen to put up the swimmers verdict of the week-end.
