While his club mates were battling in the Garioch 200 David Smith was taking part in the Huntly Sprint Triathlon. This was his 5th Scottish Ranking Sprint Triathlon of the season and was held on a windy but sunny, dry day.
Garioch Amateur Swimming Club enjoyed a successful week-end at Westhill Swimming Pool, hosting the annual Garioch 200 and dominating the medals throughout the meet. Both boys’ and girls’ squads won the team competitions, with Garioch accruing more than double the points achieved by nearest rivals Westhill.
Garioch Amateur Swimming Club began the season in fine form, winning a host of medals and breaking numerous meet records into the bargain. Billed as a training meet where swimmers would work towards gaining competitive fitness, the Haddington 100 at the Mercat Gate, Prestonpans, demonstrated that the Summer holidays had merely fired the team up to perform beyond expectations: Garioch swimmers took a clean sweep of medals in five separate events, with the boys in particular being in scintillating form.
