Garioch swimmers were busy again, competing in the North District Age Group Championships in Inverness on 30th November-1st December. The best swimmers in the North of Scotland aged 10-14 were on show during the week-end and competition for medals was stiff.
There was great excitement as ever for the Garioch Amateur Swimming Club Championships, with a large turn-out of swimmers and spectators enjoying some exciting swimming. This annual event is a great chance for the younger swimmers to watch and learn from their more experienced colleagues and for the older competitors to demonstrate the standards that are possible with hard training, commitment and determination. Garioch swimmers had to dig deep during a demanding schedule of events at the North District Open and Grand Prix at the Inverness Aquadome. No-one was busier than Hannah Miley who was competing in the pool hours after having returned home from Beijing.
REN96 were hosts at Garioch’s most recent competition in the brand new and very impressive ON-X Sports Centre inLinwood on 9th – 10th November. Despite being in the middle of a hectic and demanding spell of meets, Garioch swimmers were in great form, showing high levels of energy and considerable competitive determination.
Fraserburgh hosted this year’s North District Distance Meet, giving Garioch’s swimmers a great opportunity to test their skills and endurance in the longer events. As many of these aren’t swum on a regular basis, there were some amazing improvements on current personal best times.
