Garioch swimmers enjoyed tremendous success as the club hosted the highly enjoyable Mix Up Meet at Inverurie Swimming Pool on February 21 and 22. 14 clubs contested the meet, with the Garioch team dominating proceedings and carrying off an impressive haul of medals in all age groups. In the 15 and over category, Orla Adams won gold in the 100IM and 400 free and silver in the 50 back, while Shannon Crawford won four golds, including a very fast 100 breast, and a silver in the 100IM.
Garioch swimmers continued their successful run of competitions in February by taking medals against some strong opposition in the Elgin Spring Meet on 14th and 15th Feb. Finley Cousins (aka Coozan), despite having his name consistently mispronounced all week-end over the tannoy, put in several performances to remember by winning gold in the 200 back, silver in the 200 breast and 200 fly and bronze in the 200 free.
Garioch’s 9-11 year old swimmers were in action at the International School on Feb 8th where Aberdeen Asc hosted their 1st mini meet. There were some great swims and a raft of medals. Caitlin Dick won silver in the 50 back and bronze in the 50 free, while brother Matthew took gold in the 50 fly, silver in the 50 back and bronze in the 50 free.
Garioch swimmers were in great form in the Peterhead Age Group Meet on 7th February, as a mixed team of youth and experience combined to take a host of medals.
