So about a month ago it was mentioned that Hannah was going down to the Northampton Winter meet with a coach and would anyone else like to go along. The word went out after much logistical planning a team of 15 swimmers headed south to Corby “The most Scottish town in England”
The Scottish National Short Course Championships took place in the Edinburgh Commonwealth Pool between the 11th and 13th December bringing the Short course swimming season to a close for 2015 for many of the swimmers.
Stonehaven ASC hosted their third annual Santa’s Elves meeting this weekend, whilst the emphasis was on fun, this swimming was taken seriously, Garioch sent a team of 13 swimmers. There was a prize for the best fancy dress team, as usual Garioch put their full effort behind it and with the help of Ann Overton a full nativity scene was created in Montrose. The outfits we absolutely amazing and were by far the best there, the great news was the prize and Garioch managed to pick up a new, and as yet unnamed member.
Alford Otters kindly invited four teams to christen the new Alford pool in the community complex. The new pool looks great and the four Clubs, Garioch, Broch, Aberdeen and of course the Otters were keen to give it a go. There was a wide mix of races, 57 in total, with only one heat for each discipline and plenty of relays to keep the volume level high. It was a team based points competition with 27 Garioch swimmers doing well to finish 2nd.
Hannah Miley was one of a small team from Britain who flew to Israel to compete in the LEN SC Championships. On the first day of the Championships Hannah was the first female to win a medal, securing silver in her favourite event 400IM. Today Hannah set a new 200fly Scottish Record with a time of 2:08.32, beating her own record which she set in 2012.
