For most this was the first meeting of the season and a great opportunity to see how all the pre season training has been going. The event concentrates on the long distance events, so there are just 4 events, the 1500m, 800m, 400m and 400m IM.
The team from was made up of 17 Swimmers so Garioch was well represented and came back with 11 medals in total.
Ben Barclay was swimming strongly in the 10-12 year old category and came away with a clean sweep of Gold Medals with some great PB’s on the way. Nicole Ogg won a Silver in the 400m IM taking 9 seconds off her PB against some very strong 14 year olds. Matthew Dick and Ceri Gilllespie both achieved a Bronze in the 1500m despite being in a category which included 12 year olds.
All the junior swimmers achieved some very strong PB’s most knocking off between 30 seconds to a minute off their 1500m time, so the training is paying off.
For the senior swimmers it was an early season opportunity to gauge their fitness as the hard work of the season begins.
