Garioch had a team of 11 who headed down to Glasgow for this year’s Scottish National Age Group Championships. For some it was their first chance to experience such a big event with over a thousand competitors, for others it was a chance to pit themselves against the best in Scotland within their age group and for the Performance swimmers it was vital preparation for the British Championships next week and possible Olympic qualification.
It was a long trip for many up to the Banff pool, in total there were 19 swimmers representing Garioch. It was just 50m, 100m and relays for the day with the emphasis on speed!
It was a long trip up to Forres where an enormous squad of Garioch Swimmers made the trip, in total there were no less than 26 swimmers made up the team over the two days. As a sign for the future we had 10 swimmers aged 10 or less.
Some of the Superstars of World swimming were performing at the Edinburgh International meeting from 11th to 13th March. As world swimmers get into gear for Olympic qualification it was a massively important meeting as British swimmers prepare for the Olympic Qualification meeting, the British Championships which take place at Glasgow Tollcross in just under a month.
Over the weekend of 5th and 6th March Garioch sent a team of 20 swimmers to the North District Age Group Championships held at ASV.
