Swimmers were ready and primed for our home meet, the meet was very well attended with a full complement of swimmers from around the region. On the Saturday afternoon the meet was joined by some world class swimmers from the newly formed University of Aberdeen Performance Swim team. It was an amazing opportunity for some of the younger swimmers to learn and observe the senior swimmers.
Finley Cousins was certainly inspired, setting three new club records over the weekend, in the 50m Fly, 100m Fly and the 100m IM. Matthew Dick was leading the medal haul with a podium in every race and wins in 4 events. Finley backed up his records with 6 wins and 2 further podiums, Caitlin Dick had a win in the 50m Breast and 4 podiums. Ceri Gillespie had two strong wins and two podiums, Catherine Boddie 7 podiums, Ben McLaughlin 2 podiums, Amira Cheyne 3 podiums and Nula Gow a podium in the 50m Breast and Laura Allan a podium in the 50m Fly.
Outside the medals the swimmers were Ben Barclay, Isaac Chrinside, Alex Clark, Abbie Killoh, Johanna Mackenzie, Kenzie Masson, Kyle Mitchell, Cathy Mullan, Molly Mutch, Aiden Page, Hannah Strachan, Kayleigh Whelan Duenas, Sean Whelan Duenas, Bill Whitcombe, Luke Wraight and Emma Yeats.
As a home meet it took a huge amount of organising and a lot of work went into making the event such a success. Thanks to all the parents, officials, coaches and helpers who contributed.
